Letterpress Stationery

Using a vintage printing press and individual pieces of hand-set metal type, create some luxurious stationery notecards perfect to give away as a gift or to keep for yourself. This relief printing process is the same technology that Johannes Gutenberg used in the 15th century to create the first printed Bible, but it widely used today for upscale social stationery, such as business cards, greeting cards, and invitations.

Please bring $20 to class for 40-page Letterpress Basics Handout and Stationery Materials (cardstock, envelopes and ink).

Convener: Chuck Harper is a production manager for a book publisher in KC and has been practicing the Book Arts -- papermaking, letterpress printing, and bookbinding -- for nearly 20 years. His hobby print shop and bindery is called The Craftboy Workshop.

The class meets at The Craftboy Workshop, 5622 Locust, KCMO. Class Limit: 5

Class fees are $10. There is a registration fee of $2 due once per person per semester. The material fee of $20 will be collected at the time of the class. FREE TO UMKC STUDENTS. (UMKC Students must still pay material fees but not the class or registration fees.)

On-Line registration now available.
